This page lists Ed & Leighton's precious, flattering quotes to each other & in regards to Chuck and Blair, along with any promising comments from the producers (or others) about CB. Some CB stuff is spoilery. Also, if I say this page has been updated on the Home page and you can't find any new quotes at the top, it's probably farther down. I'm trying to keep these quotes in chronological order - through the seasons - as best I can. Enjoy!
"I feel like Chuck has gone on the biggest journey of any one on the show. In the pilot, he's pretty much a pure villain. He's not a character that has a lot of layers. That was something Ed Westwick really brought as an actor," Savage says. "And his chemistry with Leighton [Meester] — when we saw them together on screen and the power of the two of them working together but also being
attracted to each other, which really inspired us to grow that character and give him some more layers."
-Stephanie Savage (on Ed/Leight-Chuck/Blair throughout the series)

Stephanie Savage: Chuck and Blair, of course is a huge storyline for us and something that was a little bit surprising. You know, they have no relationship in the book whatsoever. So that was really something that’s kind of unique to the series and I think a lot grew out of Ed and Leighton’s chemistry with each other and just the fun of writing scenes with those two characters.
Amy Kaufman: It’s one of those classic, epic love stories. You don’t come upon those often either in movies or television, where the audience is so committed to their relationship.
SS: We were terrified that episode where they get together and have sex in the limo was a very early episode and it was
violating a lot of sort of the mythology of the books. So it was a big risk to go there.
Josh Safran: I feel very close to the Season 2 arc of Chuck and Blair, and Chuck not being able to say ‘I love you’. It was hard for
me to write those episodes without getting emotional. At the time and actually it still feels like sort of the biggest thing that you could do, like, Chuck really had to find that in himself and that was their hurdle that lasted 25 episodes. I wrote the first one where he wouldn’t say it and I wrote the last one of that season where he finally said it.
JS: That whole arc was the most meaningful to me.

"I’m sure they’re going to give it the fairy tale ending the series deserves. Hopefully, Blair and Chuck will end up together. I would like it to end that way."

"He and I work really well together because there's this chemistry that works offscreen as well," Meester says. "Even with non-romantic (storylines when) our characters are fighting, I just really enjoy it, but I'd rather they be getting along."

Insider: The idea of soulmates has been thrown around a lot with Chuck and Blair. Is that how you see them?
Ed: Yes, that’s what I feel.
Ed: Yes, that’s what I feel.
"When [the show] picks up, he wants to be with Blair, and he’s pursuing Blair. That’s his obsession, his goal. It’s the only thing that’s keeping him [going]. I think he attaches himself to the idea of her so much, the idea of them so much, that it becomes unhealthy. So it’s going to be interesting."

TVLINE | Do you think he’s tragic romantically, as well?
Oh, absolutely. I think that’s on the wall. The whole Blair thing is tragic in every way. When you want to be with someone [and] you know you should be with them but [there's] always external factors, that’s tragic.

KRISTEN: You and Leighton I think are two of the most talented actors on television today...I’m curious about how you’ve developed the chemistry you have, because I think you both are so solid and so good at what you do. How is it working with her at this point?
Ed: Well, I’m madly in love with Leighton, so...that’s what helps on my half. Maybe so much that she doesn’t even have to be in love with me.
KRISTEN: You love enough for the two of you.
Ed: I love enough. She’s mine...no, I don’t know, she’s...I’m incredibly close to her. She’s a lovely girl, and I...you know...I think she was 20 and I was 19 when we started the show and you know, it’s such an important kind of developmentstage of young adulthood and to grow up on the show and go through that...you know, together, I mean you’re gonna have a very strong bond. But uh...you know, she’s a remarkable talent. There is just...sometimes you just can’t put things into words with connections or sparks when you’re acting with someone, and you know...we got the right pairing I guess.

Obviously, I have to ask about Chuck and Blair. What can you tell me that’s coming up for them?
Ed: What can I tell you that’s coming up? There’s a wedding. I mean, look, with regards to, for my character of Chuck, she’s his muse, she’s his obsession. It’s drawn-out, but it’s so like heavy. He’s so into her. It’s such a big deal for him. It’s taken on a thing, like she is the air that he breathes, I guess. He wants any cost to find a way to be with her and that’s what he’s doing for the rest of the reason, is trying, trying and trying. Of course, when something’s like that, sometimes you try bad methods, you try bad approaches. That’s kind of the flavor of our show anyway, double-crossing and what not. I still don’t know where it’s going to go, he’s just on a mission. What’s kind of interesting is he’s not devious in other ways like he was for the first three or four years and there was a bunch of stuff, like family that he was trying to figure out. It’s not really at the forefront of his mind now. It’s just how do I get to be with the girl.

"...in a way, Chuck and Blair are a romance tragedy. So much has happened that if they can’t get it together then that’s the tragedy because they do love each other and there’s been so much external influence. It’s everything else going on around you when you know it should just be you two."

I think they belong together. I don’t know how we’re going to get them together but I think they’ve got to come together at some point and have little Chuck babies. Little Chuck babies in bow ties.
In bow ties.

And whilst all this is going on Blair sees that this is all perhaps looking a little too serious and perhaps gets a little hurt. (most likely CR) I've been so pleased with the last few scripts. What can you tell us about Clemence Posey?
Ed: She is fantastic. When I met her, I’realized that she played in my favorite movie “Bon Baisers de bruges” with Colin farrel. So I was very impressed. She’s a wonderful actress.
Why do you think Chuck is gonna fall in love with her?
Ed: Chuck is gonna be quite smitten with her but his heart is not available right now. He treats her right, he is sincere but I think he loves what she represents, a way to escape his past. She doesn’t know the old chuck so he can’t be himself with her. He is attracted by the quiet life without problems of this french student. He sees with her as a chance to have a new life.
Would you like to sing in Gossip Girl?
Ed: I would like to see Chuck sing a song just for Blair. Something a la Frank Sintra, I think it would be quite
fitting…

What is the first question people ask you?
Leighton: When Chuck& Blair are gonna be together again. The fans care about that a lot, and I’ve got to say me too! I love their relationship and working with Ed is very thrilling. The scenes with him are usually my favorites because we have a great alchemy. Our harmony makes our relationship credible, we trust each other and aren’t afraid of going too far in the intimate scenes.
So Chuck & Blair are going to be a couple or not?
Leighton: Well the writers are giving us a hard time. In Paris, Blair discovers that Chuck has a new girlfriend played by Clemence Poesy. Blair is definitely not ready to forgive him. So, when she comes back to N.Y, she
wants to forget Chuck Bass. But let’s hope that it’s not forever because these two are made for each other.
Why don’t you like when Blair is being a bitch?
Leighton: I’m have a hard time to understand her when she’s mean. In the first season, I made a big effort not to hate her. But since her relationship with Chuck we’ve seen the human in her that’s why I think they need each other. Blair is much more pleasant when she’s happy in love.

Question: Is it true that Chuck and Blair break up again on Gossip Girl? —Mary
-Ausiello: I will neither confirm nor deny that particular rumor on the grounds that it’s too spoilery. Besides, it’s also kind of a non-issue since any Chuck/Blair break-up will undoubtedly be followed by a reunion at some point. Isn’t that right, Stephanie Savage? “We really feel like those guys are made for each other,” she tells me. “But it’s not going to be an easy ride because of their personalities and their dynamic. It’s our job to throw some good obstacles in their path, but we always root for them to find their way back to each other.”
